What Is the NovaStar H Series?

The NovaStar H Series combines video processing, video wall splicing and LED display control in one modular platform. It can operate as an all-in-one splicing processor with LED sending capability or as a dedicated video splicer. Its FPGA-based hardware architecture is designed for stable, low-latency operation in demanding professional display environments.

Common applications include command and control rooms, energy and utility monitoring, security and judicial facilities, broadcast or visualization systems, conference centers and stage rental installations. The modular chassis lets system designers install the input and output cards required for a specific project and expand the system when display requirements change.

Key Features

Modular, Hot-Swappable Card Design

Configure the chassis with input, output and LED sending cards for the required signal format and screen layout. Input and output cards are hot-swappable, so servicing one card does not interrupt the operation of other installed cards. Online status monitoring helps operators identify the state of each input and output.

4K and 10-Bit Video Processing

The H Series supports common HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort and IP input interfaces, depending on the installed cards. It supports 10-bit video source input and processing, 4K video input and output, HDCP input-source decoding and network camera sources up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz. Multiple sources can be combined into a single display canvas.

LED Sending over RJ45 and Fiber

An H_16xRJ45 + 2xFiber sending card provides 16 Ethernet outputs and two optical outputs. A single card can load up to 10.4 million pixels. Optical and Ethernet output backup helps improve system reliability, while fiber connectivity supports long-distance signal transmission and a simpler system topology.

Multi-Screen and Layer Management

Operators can create and manage multiple screens from one system, assign different output resolutions to each screen, arrange multiple layers and build irregular rectangular layouts. Frame synchronization keeps output images aligned across the LED canvas to reduce tearing, dropped frames and visible stitching.

Browser-Based Multi-User Control

The web interface supports simultaneous operation from Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux devices. Configuration data is synchronized between users, and firmware can be upgraded online from a computer. EDID management, input-source naming, preview monitoring, background images and OSD settings help simplify commissioning and daily operation.

NovaStar H2 vs H5 vs H9 vs H15 vs H20

The correct chassis depends on the number of input sources, output channels and pixels in the finished LED wall. The following comparison uses the maximum specifications listed for each model.

How to Choose a NovaStar H Series Model

  1. Calculate the LED wall pixel total. Multiply the final canvas width by height and include every independent screen.
  2. Count the input sources. Include live cameras, media servers, computers and backup sources, then identify the required HDMI, DVI, DP or IP interfaces.
  3. Define the output topology. Confirm the number of Ethernet and fiber connections, transmission distance and redundancy requirements.
  4. Allow expansion capacity. Choose a chassis with spare slots and loading headroom if the screen or source count may grow.
  5. Confirm the card list before ordering. The chassis model alone does not define the final interface configuration.

Typical Applications

  • Fine-pitch LED video walls in control and command centers
  • Security, traffic, energy and utility monitoring rooms
  • Broadcast, visualization and multi-source presentation systems
  • Conference centers and corporate display installations
  • Stage rental, live events and large-format LED displays
  • Projects requiring centralized control of multiple LED screens

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the NovaStar H Series a video processor or an LED controller?

It can perform both roles. The H Series can be configured as an all-in-one video splicing processor with LED sending outputs or used as a dedicated video wall splicer. The installed cards determine the available inputs and outputs.

Which NovaStar H Series model should I choose?

Choose the H2, H5, H9, H15 or H20 according to the required input channels, output channels and total pixel capacity. The H2 is the smallest chassis in this range, while the H20 provides the highest maximum channel count and pixel capacity. Confirm the complete card configuration before purchase.

Does the NovaStar H Series support 4K signals?

Yes. The platform supports 4K video input and output. It also supports network camera input up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz when the appropriate interface card is installed.

Can input and output cards be replaced while the system is running?

Yes. The modular input and output cards support hot swapping, and replacing one card does not affect the normal operation of other cards.

Can multiple users control the system?

Yes. Multiple users can access the web-based control interface from Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux devices, with synchronized information and fast browser response.

What is included in the displayed price?

The displayed price is based on one chassis, one H_1xHDMI 2.0 input card, and one H_16xRJ45 + 2xFiber sending card. Other input, output and redundancy configurations require a project-specific quotation.
