NovaStar MRV416-N LED Receiving Card Overview

The NovaStar MRV416-N is a general-purpose LED receiving card designed for detailed image control, easier cabinet maintenance, and reliable operation. It provides 16 standard HUB75E connectors and supports up to 32 groups of parallel RGB data, making it suitable for a wide range of compatible LED display modules and cabinet layouts.

With PWM driver ICs, one MRV416-N supports an 8-bit video source and a loading capacity of up to 512×512 pixels at 60 Hz. With common driver ICs, it supports up to 512×384 pixels at 60 Hz. Features including Color Management, 18bit+, pixel-level calibration, low latency, 3D, RGB gamma adjustment, mapping, monitoring, and multiple backups help improve both display performance and day-to-day serviceability.

Display Quality Features

  • Color Management: Supports standard Rec.709, DCI-P3, and Rec.2020 color gamuts as well as custom color gamuts for more precise on-screen color.
  • 18bit+: Increases LED display grayscale performance by four times, helping reduce grayscale loss at low brightness and produce smoother images.
  • Pixel-level brightness and chroma calibration: Works with NovaStar’s high-precision calibration system to correct each pixel and improve brightness and color consistency.
  • Quick adjustment of dark or bright lines: Corrects visible seam brightness differences caused by module or cabinet splicing, with adjustments taking effect immediately.
  • Multi-batch adjustment: Helps minimize brightness differences between cabinets or modules from different production batches.
  • Individual RGB gamma adjustment: With NovaLCT and a compatible controller, red, green, and blue gamma can be adjusted separately to improve low-grayscale uniformity and white balance.
  • 90-degree image rotation: Rotates the display image to 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° for flexible installation layouts.

Low Latency and 3D Support

Low Latency can be enabled when required. With modules that use a driver IC with built-in RAM, video-source latency at the receiving-card end can be reduced to one frame. The MRV416-N can also work with a controller that supports 3D to enable 3D output.

Setup and Maintenance Functions

  • Mapping 1.1: Displays the controller number, receiving card number, and Ethernet port information on the cabinets so technicians can identify card locations and connection topology.
  • Stored image settings: Lets users define the image shown during startup, when the Ethernet cable is disconnected, or when no video signal is present.
  • Temperature and voltage monitoring: Monitors the receiving card’s operating temperature and voltage without external equipment.
  • Cabinet LCD support: A cabinet LCD module can show temperature, voltage, current run time, and total run time.
  • Bit error detection: Monitors Ethernet-port communication in real time to assist with network troubleshooting.
  • Firmware program readback: Reads the receiving card firmware and saves it to a local computer.
  • Configuration parameter readback: Reads and saves receiving card configuration parameters, simplifying backup and maintenance work.

Reliability and Backup Protection

  • Loop backup: The receiving card and controller can form a loop through primary and backup line connections. If a line fault occurs, the screen can continue displaying normally through the backup path.
  • Dual backup of configuration parameters: Configuration data is stored in both the application area and factory area. Factory-area parameters can be restored to the application area when needed.
  • Dual program backup: Two firmware copies are stored on the receiving card at the factory to reduce the risk of an abnormal interruption during a program update.

Who Is the MRV416-N For?

The MRV416-N is intended for LED display cabinets and modules that require a compact receiving card with HUB75E connectivity, strong image-processing functions, built-in diagnostics, and backup protection. Before ordering, confirm the driver IC type, cabinet wiring, required loading resolution, and controller compatibility for your LED display design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum resolution of the NovaStar MRV416-N?

One MRV416-N supports up to 512×512 pixels at 60 Hz with PWM driver ICs, or up to 512×384 pixels at 60 Hz with common driver ICs. Both specifications apply to an 8-bit video source.

How many HUB75E ports and RGB data groups does the MRV416-N support?

The card has 16 standard HUB75E connectors and supports up to 32 groups of parallel RGB data.

Does the MRV416-N support low latency and 3D?

Yes. Low Latency can reduce receiving-card-end latency to one frame when used with modules whose driver IC has built-in RAM. For 3D output, the card must be paired with a controller that supports 3D.

What backup features are included?

The MRV416-N supports loop backup, dual backup of configuration parameters, and dual firmware program backup. These functions help keep the screen operating and make recovery easier if a cable or update problem occurs.
